Ayurvedic diet consists the food which is mostly organic.I mean food grown naturally without using chemicals or pesticides and not tinned or canned with preservatives. The diet we consume in hotels or short eat places or junk food stalls is all with various unknown additives which we may not know how it is being processed and how it is being served.Cooking right is most important if we want to consume Ayurvedic diet. In olden days thousands of years ago Indian monks and Maha rishis used to consume mostly raw food, ripen fruits and semi cooked, raw rice processed naturally preserving the natural aroma and minerals and vitamins without the knowledge of latest science and food technology and terminology!
Eating cold or preserved food in the refrigerators is not right method as the food quality reduces in terms of its taste and resources we need from right food.Ayurvedic diet consists basically six different tastes:Sweet, Sour, Salty, Pungent, Bitter and Astringent. The order of above mentioned food is to be consumed in same way, I mean first we should take sweet food as it get digested first. Food like Astringent ( lentils, pomegranates etc) should be taken at the end of the meal. If all the six types of foods consumed everyday, it will result in good health. Some time we may not eat all kinds of food which results in cravings for such food and that is the reason we feel like to eat something more. That means the order or types of foods the body deserve to consume are not supplied to it so the cravings we feel! So simple to understand the body - food relation!!
The food we eat should be compliant with three doshas mentioned in Ayurveda!
I don't want to confuse you with the terminology of Ayurveda, in simple terms Vatha dosha can be balanced with warm food while pitha dosha can be balanced with raw food and no deep fried or deeply microwaved food! And on the other hand for balancing the Kapha dosha, avoid oily food, even creams, butters, burgers filled with cheese etc.Do not take too sour food! Avoid alcohal, tobacco, ice creams, icy drinks, too hot foods like deep fried non vegetarian.
Avoid non vegetarian, be good vegetarian.Food tends to change the mood and personality of people. Take lot of spices as they help keep our body warm. Warmness keeps healthy! It is good for blood stream to flow at better pace.Have chilly, ginger, black and green peppers, cloves in your food.
Ayurvedic diet typically should contain lot of salads, fresh vegetables and half boiled veggies. So eat healthy and keep yourself healthy! What do you feel? Comment your views. Thank you for stopping by.
