AYURVEDIC DIET OR AYURVEDIC FOOD. WHAT IS THE BEST DIET FOR HEALTH? Read on...

Ayurvedic food is not another special medicated food! It is the right food for right body and right mind.Right food at right intervals of time, at regular times, keeps your body fit and healthy. Good digestion and good sleep and cool thinking can be obtained by good food.So what is the Ayurvedic food? Let us discover.

Ayurvedic diet consists the food which is mostly organic.I mean food grown naturally without using chemicals or pesticides and not tinned or canned with preservatives. The diet we consume in hotels or short eat places or junk food stalls is all with various unknown additives which we may not know how it is being processed and  how it is being served.Cooking right is most important if we want to consume Ayurvedic diet. In olden days thousands of years ago Indian monks and Maha rishis used to consume mostly raw food, ripen fruits and semi cooked, raw rice processed naturally  preserving the natural aroma and minerals and vitamins without the knowledge of latest science and food technology and  terminology!

Eating cold or preserved food in the refrigerators is not right method as the food quality reduces in terms of   its taste and resources we need from right food.Ayurvedic diet consists basically six different tastes:Sweet, Sour, Salty, Pungent, Bitter and Astringent. The order of  above mentioned food is to be consumed in same way, I mean first we should take sweet food as it get digested first. Food like  Astringent ( lentils, pomegranates etc) should be taken at the end of the meal. If all the six types of foods consumed everyday, it will result in good health. Some time we may not eat all kinds of food which results in cravings for such food and that is the reason we feel like to eat something more. That means the order or types of foods the body deserve to consume are not supplied to it so the cravings we feel! So simple to understand the body - food relation!!

The food we eat should be compliant with three doshas mentioned in Ayurveda!

I don't want to confuse you with the terminology of Ayurveda, in simple terms Vatha dosha can be balanced with warm food while pitha dosha can be balanced with raw food and no deep fried or  deeply microwaved food! And on the other hand for balancing the Kapha dosha, avoid oily food, even creams, butters, burgers filled with cheese etc.Do not take too sour food! Avoid alcohal, tobacco, ice creams, icy drinks, too hot foods like deep fried non vegetarian.
Avoid non vegetarian, be good vegetarian.Food tends to change the mood and personality of people. Take lot of spices as they help keep our body warm. Warmness keeps healthy! It is good for blood stream to flow at better pace.Have chilly, ginger, black and green peppers, cloves in  your food.
Ayurvedic diet typically should contain lot of salads, fresh vegetables and half boiled veggies. So eat healthy and keep yourself healthy! What do you feel? Comment your views. Thank you for stopping by.

HOW TO DETOXIFICATE YOUR BODY- TOP FIVE DETOXIFICATION METHODS

Hi ! Dear friends !! As daily food intake at  restaurants or fast food canters in our modern life rigorously put us in hazardous situation leading to face us further sick of using chemical medicines.Toxins piled up in our blood stream and body may result in unwanted health problems. In order to avoid problems of health, it is better to detoxify the body frequently whenever possible. Cleansing the body is as good as scanning and removing virus out of computer to keep the body healthy and fit for longer life ! So let us discuss the top 5 methods of cleansing the body or detoxification methods.
1.   Detoxing with liquids. As I have already posted an article for water fasting or weight loss with liquids, I had mentioned earlier excess quantities of chemicals and residues left in our body system can be cleansed with water fasting. Pure water detoxing is a method without any supplements or tablets being used while on water fasting result in detoxification of the body. Found detoxification is not a big problem while undergoing natural detoxification process, but for a newbie it may be little inconvenient to face from fasting with water and just depending on water and juices or whatever method you approach. Detoxification method is not a combination of regular intake of foods as usual and take some extra feed of liquids suggested or herbals to consume, but it is little pain some during first one or two days but third and fourth day it will be ok and you will feel so light and flying in air like experience. Believe me it is not so complicated if you take it serious.

What I found with my own experience, you may feel giddiness or nausea during first two days of water fasting and replace the normal food with liquids discussed here under. As we drink more water around 7 to 10 liters of water a day, we find urine smelling  with strong odors. I think this is an indication of detoxification by expelling unwanted toxins out of our body! Apart from this, mouth may also give little bad smell as a result of  no food intake (I think during fasting days it is normal experience, if you too feel same please share your experience here !)  and a  layer on tongue is formed for every four to five hours!.  One may need to brush three to four times a day.( I had this experience).
During this period of diet one need to cut all food intake in order to benefit from the detoxification to the fullest possible. Patients of blood pressure or sugar or heart attack and other medical problems should be away from this method or at least should be under the doctor’s supervision. One need to find, if this method is suitable for them or not from a doctor.

    2.   Second method is by fasting with fruit juices alone without sugars. Natural fruit juices are rich in vitamins and minerals. They tend to remove unnecessary fluids and clean bladder. It is not just to add fruit juices in addition to the normal food, but just take complete diet on fruit juices alone makes it meaningful to get desired results. Juices of pomegranate, orange, pineapple and berry fruit are the best. In addition, one can plan with different juices in intervals of two or three days completely depending on particular fruit juices and later with combination of different fruits. This will help in natural way toning the body system with natural minerals without any oils, chemicals or spices etc. Fruit detoxification not only help in reducing the toxins but also help in weight loss during this period !

3.   Third method is to depend on Green Tea, Lemon Tea and Lemon Grass tea. Surprisingly  lemon grass is   used very much in Thai foods for its rich aroma and taste. Beside it has herbal effects on detoxing the body. It also helps to get sound sleep and keeps migraine headaches away from you. It is even argued that it is better for sugar and cholesterol reduction.
Lemon grass is wildly grown grass with lemon aroma in Asian countries. Lemon grass roots are also used in making herbal tea and aromatic lemongrass oil. A picture of lemon grass is shown in this article. When brewed it shows light green colored liquid called lemon grass tea. It looks similar to that of green tea.  Green tea is well known among most of the Asian countries. There is already an article dedicated to Green tea on this blog. Please read that article to know more about how to brew the green tea. While being on mainly on water, in frequent intervals taking green tea or lemon tea or lemon grass tea ( changing from time to time ) will give the best effects of detoxification.

4.    Ginger tea . Yes it is just ginger tea , the most famous ‘masala tea’ in India but  with an exception without milk and tea powder! Ginger helps to reduce the arthritis and joint pains. It is advised to take ginger even every day morning without milk or any other ingredients. Just boil a cup of water with fresh ground ginger for six to seven minutes without sugar. Garlic can also be taken raw during a day time or in the morning while detoxing with ginger tea( I am not asking to mix ginger and garlic!). Garlic helps a lot in reducing cholesterol and reducing heart attacks. Garlic is also good for improving sexual mood. It is good sexual mood elevator ! Try garlic every day ( raw ) for some days and see the difference in your sexual appetite ! Garlic removes the toxins from our body.

5.   Finally  vegetable soups !, yes vegetable soups such as cabbage and broccoli are to good toxin removers from the body. Do not add any salts or sugars or taste enhancers while detoxing with soups, simply depend whole day on soups ! Try for 3 to 4 days on any methods mentioned above. But be sure you have no health complications and if so, take doctor’s advice before you start up detoxing. You can add vegetable soups such tomato soup and corn soup but all natural and fresh ! Don’t use packed or canned stuff for any of detoxification, because it will not serve the purpose ! Be reminded once again, check if your body is fit to take detoxification methods mentioned. If not suitable because you have some health problems, don’t experiment with any of these methods. Or consult the doctor if you still want to do so.

IS COCONUT GOOD FOR HEART? EFFECTS OF COCONUT ON CHOLESTEROL.

Is coconut good for health or reducing cholesterol?
There are biased arguments about coconut and its adverse effects on heart or health, besides some websites boasts coconut actually improves the HDL ( High Density Lipo  Protein) levels, which is good for heart. But compare the saturated fat levels in different sources, Coconut oil is nearly 90% with saturated fat, Lard with 40% saturated fat and beef fat is about 40% saturated fat.Even butter has 64% saturated fat.So Coconut has highest amount of saturated fat.

One argument is cholesterol comes from animal based oils or fats but not from plant based or fruits and nuts based oils.LDL cholesterol which is known as bad cholesterol is increased with saturated fats, as too much percentage of saturated fat is from coconut oil it definitely increases the bad cholesterol however it helps increase the HDL ( good cholesterol)the ratio of how much it increases HDL to increase of LDL should alsobe considered. Coconut oil or coconut loving people take one positive point as an excuse to consume more coconut will not be spared by increase of cholesterol ( which is no one giving guarantee about it!). Hence it is wise to be away from using excessive saturated fats. Simple reason is we cannot claim our life after we die with increased cholesterol or what so ever the reason based on biased or scientific and non scientific arguments.
One website says higher amount of usage of coconut oil and coconut products used areas such as some states of India like Kerala reported less heat attack rates while one website gives the evidences of study conducted on people of Singapore and Hong Kong found that Singapore residents suffered 3 times heart attacks and a reason or factor that researchers blamed for the higher the rate of heart attacks is due to higher consumption of coconut oil and coconut products ! So my question is how people take this? Is it based on Kerala population or Singapore population? One who did not read the other website may believe it is established with research that coconut is good, but please don't get carried away with  words like "secret food", " goodies","healthy coconut tips"  etc etc.. they look often believing but cannot believe one study which is done for shorter time and shorter population. The reasons which may keep people healthy at one place may be knitted with other reasons such as their life style and may be they are consuming coconuts or coconut oils with variety of vegetables, fruits or fish. The usage of such products may propelled the good side of increased heart health while suppressing the bad side of the health by usage of coconut. So just with that one cannot go or trust it is 100% scientifically and universally established fact. It is biased argument. Who can give you the right advice if coconut oil or products are useful or not is your doctor, he can advice how much and to what extent you can consume. So don't ever fall into trap of this cyber trap. This is only a personal opinion or supporting one side of biased opinion.

One more comparison here 10g of saturated fat found from 100g of coconut milk, while 2.3g of saturated fat is found from 100ml of reduced fat cow milk. Coconut is dominant with almost 90% with saturated fat but saturated fats are mostly found in animal food which are known for heart diseases but we cannot rule out that there is no danger of using coconut just because it is plant based or nut based. American Heart Association and National Heart foundation recommends avoiding usage of coconut oil, while it includes recipes that of coconut milk reduced-fat version. So it does not mean it is encouraging to use coconut milk, we need to understand the right point what it says.

However there are plus points of usage of coconut as it provide good nutrition and fiber ( known to reduce cholesterol !), Vitamin C, minerals, phosphorous and iron. It has good nutritional value but we should
understand to what extent we can use in daily usage by limits.
